The Science and Technology Division of Assam Science Technology & Environment Council had set up 219 number of Aryabhata Science Centre in 219 development blocks of the state. The project is supported by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Assam. The first batch of the centres was launched on 28th February, 2008, the day of National Science Day by then Hon’ble Minister of Science and Technology, Govt. of Assam.

The Aryabhatta Science Centre were set up in all the development blocks of the State of Assam in 2008 and have started showing results in building up scientific temper among the school students.
